Meditation is the practice of coming back home to ourselves. It’s like an act of love and self-care towards ourselves, just like we might care for our bodies through healthy food or exercise. To sit in meditation and look within requires a lot of humility, trust, and acceptance, because what we might discover while “peeling the layers” might not turn out the way we expected or wanted to be! And when the outer world gets so loud that we can not hear anymore, the best thing is to return to the safety of the heart and the refuge of our inner space, and reconnect with who we really are through the power of breath, focus, and stillness in an authentic way.
